About The Cheese House

The Cheese House is a charming, detached, stone cottage originally used for the storage of maturing cheeses, located at the end of a rural no-through lane in the quiet hamlet of Lochvane which comprises of only five other properties. Renovated with care for the environment in mind, retaining a traditional feel yet complimented by contemporary furnishings. Wonderful original artworks painted by the owners who are professional artists decorate the walls depicting some of the stunning local scenes, and they are available for sale as a memory of your holiday.

The useful utility/boot room is an ideal practical space for drying boots, walking gear and dogs. It leads into the open plan living space with a modern, fitted kitchen/dining area and the wood burning stove with comfy corner sofa ensures a cosy feel even on the chilliest of evenings. French windows open onto a little paved terrace where you can dine alfresco on a summer’s evening. Oak stairs take you to the bedrooms above. The master bedroom has a stable door opening to original stone barn steps (which can be locked).

Set in a large, enclosed lawned garden with lots of space for children to play, you will also enjoy the beautiful rural views. This is excellent walking countryside, a path through Lochvane joins the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, an idyllic walk to the beach of Porthmynawyd only a few minutes away. Or explore the labyrinth of amazing walks around the cliffs to Solva or Newgale with no need for a car. A visit to Pointz Castle ice cream is a must for any holiday, you will drive passed on your way to your cottage. They have a wide variety of yummy flavours to try.

Newgale beach is simply stunning and popular with families and water sports enthusiasts alike, it is particularly popular with surfers. With a pub and 2 cafes and a hire centre there is plenty of places to enjoy refreshments overlooking the beach. Visit the picturesque harbour village of Solva with its pubs and shops clustering around this narrow inlet. 

The tiny City of St Davids is only a short drive away and is well worth a visit with its excellent range of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as the majestic Cathedral and Bishops Palace. Whitesands beach, officially one of the best in the world, is nearby, perfect for families and keen surfers, beginners and professionals alike.

Alternatively, a meal at The Druidstone Hotel should not be missed, perched on the cliffs above the beautiful beach of Druidston.

Why not take a boat trip from St Justinians to Ramsey Island, an amazing bird sanctuary which gives you a chance to see seals up close.

A delightful cottage ideal for families or just a couple looking to get away from it all and relax.

Shares the same location as 33430 West Barn. Please note that there is a gated pond area within the grounds of West Barn but this is locked and not accessible.

This Access Statement has been prepared by the owner for your information; it is the most recent version that we have received. This statement has been prepared as objectively as possible, however with such a wide remit oversights may be made.

Approximately 3 quarters of a mile down narrow country lanes. The house is accessed by a 5 bar gate and smaller gate which join together with a metal bar to raise to open, not heavy. Main entrance door reached by a shallow step and door sill 82cm wide. There are 2 other ground floor entrance doors. Area in front of house is flat and gravelled with flat lawn area. Door sill to step over into kitchen area from utility room (door same width). Kitchen, downstairs wc, dining area and sitting room all on one level. No steps, no door sills. All plugs, power points approximately 44cm off ground. Low-level oven, eye-level fridge, low-level freezer. TV – remote controlled. External lighting system to front of property automatically activated when outside. Guide dogs are very welcome. No landline in house. Heating/hot water controls 75cm reach across worktop to use. Thermostats in utility room and sitting room. 2 bedrooms upstairs (double room and bunk room) are reached by solid oak staircase. Step height 18.5cm. Stairgate fitted at the top of the stairs, width 74cm. No steps between bedrooms and shower room. Smaller bedroom has bunk beds. Main bed height 48cm. The shower room has a large shower. Room to sit, no folding down chair. 18cm lip to step over to access shower. Door widths upstairs 75cm (bunk room 74cm). Wood burner in sitting room is on floor level, there is a raised lip, brick height 48cm in front of it. Knobs to open the stove are stiff. Newgale is approximately 5 minutes’ drive away. High pebble sea break. You can sit at the top of it and look out to sea. To go onto the beach, you must walk down steep slope of loose, large pebbles. Nearest beach to The Cheese House is down footpaths (muddy in winter) approximately 15 minutes’ walk away, up and down hill. Solva Harbour is a short drive away, with car parking right beside the high tide line, and cafes close by.
